Final 2014 NFL Mock Draft: Will Houston Troll Us All?

#7, Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina

2014 NFL Mock Draft: Round 1
(Thursday, May 8, 2014)

Here is my final 2014 NFL Mock Draft! It's been a long time coming, but Draft day is finally here, and I've tried my best to produce the most accurate mock possible.

Records and top 5 team needs are listed for each team, as well as the top 3 most realistic alternative options for each team in the first round. You'll also see "Reach/Value" listed below, which is based on where each player is slotted on my Top 150 Big Board. Also, I've listed 20 prospects who have a chance of going in the first round". *Note - No trades are projected in this mock, and changes could be made about an hour before the draft (unlikely).

You can view my 2014 NFL Prospect Rankings here and my 2014 NFL Draft Big Board here.

1. Houston Texans
Jadeveon Clowney*, DE, South Carolina
Ht: 6-6 Wt: 266 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 2-14 | Team Needs: QB, LB, OL, DL, DB

Analysis: With the 1st pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select... Jadeveon Clowney, Defensive End, South Carolina.

The consensus is that GM Rick Smith is working the phones in an attempt to move down and select Khalil Mack or a quarterback. But, if they felt like Mack was the best player in the draft, they would select him without hesitation. Houston won't be "settling" if they take Clowney. Owner Bob McNair has praised the South Carolina defensive end, and for good reason.

Reach/Value: 0

Other Options:

  1. Khalil Mack (6-3, 252 lbs.), OLB, Buffalo
  2. Johnny Manziel** (6-0, 207 lbs.), QB, Texas A&M
  3. Blake Bortles* (6-5, 229 lbs.), QB, Central Florida (In Trade Down Scenario)

2. Saint Louis Rams
Greg Robinson**, OT, Auburn
Ht: 6-5 Wt: 327 lbs. | Class: Sophomore (RS)
(via Washington)

2013 Season Record: 7-9 | Team Needs: QB, OL, DB, WR, OLB

Analysis: With the 2nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Saint Louis Rams select... Greg Robinson, Offensive Tackle, Auburn.

Rinse and repeat. We know the Rams would also love to move down, and would likely target Jake Matthews in a trade back. If they can't move out of the number two spot, they're content on taking Greg Robinson, the best offensive tackle prospect in this year's draft.

Reach/Value: 0

Other Options:

  1. Khalil Mack (6-3, 252 lbs.), OLB, Buffalo
  2. Sammy Watkins* (6-1, 214 lbs.), WR, Clemson
  3. Jake Matthews (6-6, 308 lbs.), OT, Texas A&M (In Trade Down Scenario)

3. Jacksonville Jaguars
Sammy Watkins*, WR, Clemson
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 214 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: QB, OL, DL, LB, WR

Analysis: With the 3rd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select... Sammy Watkins, Wide Receiver, Clemson.

There is buzz that Johnny Manziel ends up in Jacksonville, but I've never got the feeling that Jacksonville would go that route. I believe they wait until Day Two to select a quarterback, and "play it safe" here. I've felt like Mack was their guy for a while, but I'm leaning towards Sammy Watkins here.

With the absence of Justin Blackmon, the Jaguars currently lack a true number one receiver. Watkins gives them an instant upgrade, and has a very low bust rate, which is what will likely factor in here.

Reach/Value: -2

Other Options:

  1. Khalil Mack (6-3, 252 lbs.), OLB, Buffalo
  2. Jake Matthews (6-6, 308 lbs.), OT, Texas A&M
  3. Johnny Manziel** (6-0, 207 lbs.), QB, Texas A&M

4. Cleveland Browns
Mike Evans**, WR, Texas A&M
Ht: 6-5 Wt: 231 lbs. | Class: Sophomore (RS)

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: QB, OL, DB, ILB, WR

Analysis: With the 4th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select... Mike Evans, Wide Receiver, Texas A&M.

The Browns have been connected to almost every notable quarterback in this draft, but they aren't sold on taking any of them at 4. With Robinson and Watkins off the board, expect the Browns to trade down. If they can't, Mike Evans will be the selection, maybe even if Watkins is still on the board.

Reach/Value: -7

Other Options:

  1. Khalil Mack (6-3, 252 lbs.), OLB, Buffalo
  2. Johnny Manziel** (6-0, 207 lbs.), QB, Texas A&M
  3. Blake Bortles* (6-5, 229 lbs.), QB, Central Florida

5. Oakland Raiders
Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo
Ht: 6-3 Wt: 252 lbs. | Class: Senior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: QB, LB, OL, DB, TE

Analysis: With the 5th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select... Khalil Mack, Outside Linebacker, Buffalo.

Quarterbacks Blake Bortles and Johnny Manziel have been ruled out here. Oakland is looking for an immediate impact player with very low risk. Wideouts Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans are likely two of their top three targets. With both off the board, this is a no-brainer.

Khalil Mack will be in play for each of the top four teams, so the Raiders would be getting a steal here. Oakland needs another pass rusher as well as an upgrade at outside linebacker, so it's a win-win.

Reach/Value: +2

Other Options:

  1. Aaron Donald (6-1, 287 lbs.), DT, Pittsburgh
  2. Taylor Lewan (6-7, 312 lbs.), OT, Michigan
  3. Derek Carr (6-2, 215 lbs.), QB, Fresno State (In Trade Down Scenario)

6. Atlanta Falcons
Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
Ht: 6-6 Wt: 308 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: OT, OLB, S, TE, RB

Analysis: With the 6th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select... Jake Matthews, Offensive Tackle, Texas A&M.

If GM Thomas Dimitroff is unable to move up for Jadeveon Clowney, Atlanta will be content with taking the best offensive tackle on the board. There's a chance Taylor Lewan could be higher on their board than Jake Matthews, but Matthews is a plug-and-play starter at right tackle who could be an All-Pro player. He would be the "safe pick".

Reach/Value: 0

Other Options:

  1. Taylor Lewan (6-7, 312 lbs.), OT, Michigan
  2. Anthony Barr* (6-5, 247 lbs.), OLB, UCLA
  3. Aaron Donald (6-1, 287 lbs.), DT, Pittsburgh

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Johnny Manziel**, QB, Texas A&M
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 207 lbs. | Class: Sophomore (RS)

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: QB, WR, TE, OG, LB

Analysis: With the 7th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select... Johnny Manziel, Quarterback, Texas A&M.

Head Coach Lovie Smith wants the owners to take Aaron Donald. The chances of that happening are very high, but I don't think they can pass on Johnny Manziel. Besides receiver, the Bucs don't have many pressing needs. Manziel would become the face of the franchise.

Reach/Value: 0

Other Options:

  1. Aaron Donald (6-1, 287 lbs.), DT, Pittsburgh
  2. Anthony Barr* (6-5, 247 lbs.), OLB, UCLA
  3. Blake Bortles* (6-5, 229 lbs.), QB, Central Florida

8. Minnesota Vikings
Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 287 lbs. | Class: Senior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 5-10-1 | Team Needs: QB, LB, DB, OG, WR

Analysis: With the 8th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select... Aaron Donald, Defensive Tackle, Pittsburgh.

Blake Bortles will be considered (most likely in a trade down scenario), but the Vikings want a defensive player. Even after spending a first round pick on Sharrif Floyd in the first round last April, Aaron Donald will likely be their pick if he's still on the board. Interior disruption is so important, and Mike Zimmer probably cannot wait to get his hands on the best 3-technique in the draft.

Reach/Value: -5

Other Options:

  1. Anthony Barr* (6-5, 247 lbs.), OLB, UCLA
  2. Blake Bortles* (6-5, 229 lbs.), QB, Central Florida
  3. Derek Carr (6-2, 215 lbs.), QB, Fresno State

9. Buffalo Bills
Zack Martin, OT, Notre Dame
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 308 lbs. | Class: Senior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 6-10 | Team Needs: OT, TE, WR, S, DE

Analysis: With the 9th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select... Zack Martin, Offensive Tackle, Notre Dame.

Buffalo is trying desperately to move up. Chances of that actually happening aren't very high. With the top two receivers gone, I think the Bills want an offensive tackle here, and they may like Zack Martin over Taylor Lewan.

Martin can essentially play all 5 positions on the offensive line, and at a pretty high level might I add. He would give Buffalo great flexibility on the offensive line.

Reach/Value: -10

Other Options:

  1. Taylor Lewan (6-7, 312 lbs.), OT, Michigan
  2. Eric Ebron* (6-4, 253 lbs.), TE, North Carolina
  3. Odell Beckman Jr.* (5-11, 198 lbs.), WR, Louisiana State

10. Detroit Lions
Odell Beckham Jr.*, WR, Louisiana State
Ht: 5-11 Wt: 198 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 7-9 | Team Needs: DB, OL, OLB, DE, WR

Analysis: With the 10th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select... Odell Beckham Jr., Wide Receiver, Louisiana State.

Another team everyone knows is interested in trading up, it's obvious the Lions want to come away with one of the top receivers in this class. This spot is a little high for him, but Odell Beckham Jr. would be a nice consolation prize for a team looking to add another explosive receiver.

Reach/Value: -8

Other Options:

  1. Anthony Barr* (6-5, 247 lbs.), OLB, UCLA
  2. Eric Ebron* (6-4, 253 lbs.), TE, North Carolina
  3. Justin Gilbert* (6-0, 198 lbs.), CB, Oklahoma State

11. Tennessee Titans
Blake Bortles*, QB, Central Florida
Ht: 6-5 Wt: 229 lbs. | Class: Junior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 7-9 | Team Needs: QB, CB, ILB, RB, WR

Analysis: With the 11th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select... Blake Bortles, Quarterback, Central Florida.

According to Chris Mortensen, Tennessee has a "good grade" on UCF quarterback Blake Bortles. While I wouldn't agree with the pick, I think it's very possible that the Titans decide to take a signal caller depending on who falls to them. They're not sold on Jake Locker.

Reach/Value: -27

Other Options:

  1. Anthony Barr* (6-5, 247 lbs.), OLB, UCLA
  2. Justin Gilbert* (6-0, 198 lbs.), CB, Oklahoma State
  3. Kyle Fuller (6-0, 190 lbs.), CB, Virginia Tech

12. New York Giants
Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
Ht: 6-7 Wt: 312 lbs. | Class: Senior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 7-9 | Team Needs: OL, WR, TE, LB, RB

Analysis: With the 12th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select... Taylor Lewan, Offensive Tackle, Michigan.

A lot of their top targets are off the board. I'm not sure they would take Eric Ebron here, but they will definitely consider Anthony Barr at this spot. However, without an answer at left tackle, I can't see the Giants passing on Taylor Lewan even with some of his off the field concerns. He's a top 10 talent.

Reach/Value: +3

Other Options:

  1. Anthony Barr* (6-5, 247 lbs.), OLB, UCLA
  2. Eric Ebron* (6-4, 253 lbs.), TE, North Carolina
  3. Kony Ealy* (6-4, 265 lbs.), DE, Missouri

13. Saint Louis Rams
Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix*, S, Alabama
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 207 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 7-9 | Team Needs: QB, OL, DB, WR, OLB

Analysis: With the 13th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Saint Louis Rams select... Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, Safety, Alabama.

This pick almost seems like a lock, but it definitely makes sense. The Rams' secondary is an issue, and they need to upgrade at the free safety position. Clinton-Dix is the best in this class.

Reach/Value: +3

Other Options:

  1. Anthony Barr* (6-5, 247 lbs.), OLB, UCLA
  2. Kony Ealy* (6-4, 265 lbs.), DE, Missouri
  3. Calvin Pryor* (6-0, 211 lbs.), S, Louisville

14. Chicago Bears
Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 190 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: DB, LB, DT, RB, WR

Analysis: With the 14th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select... Kyle Fuller, Cornerback, Virginia Tech.

The Bears could consider a safety or a pass rusher here, but they seem locked in on a cornerback with this pick. Although I have Kyle Fuller as my third rated corner, it's starting to look more and more likely he'll be the first off the board. The Bears love him.

Reach/Value: -13

Other Options:

  1. Justin Gilbert* (6-0, 198 lbs.), CB, Oklahoma State
  2. Anthony Barr* (6-5, 247 lbs.), OLB, UCLA
  3. Calvin Pryor* (6-0, 211 lbs.), S, Louisville

15. Pittsburgh Steelers
Ra'Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota
Ht: 6-6 Wt: 310 lbs. | Class: Senior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: CB, WR, DL, ILB, RB

Analysis: With the 15th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select... Ra'Shede Hageman, Defensive Tackle, Minnesota.

Pittsburgh needs a corner, but I don't think they'll be able to pass on the freak that is Ra'Shede Hageman. He needs to be more consistent, but Hageman shows flashes of dominance. He gives the Steelers a needed upgrade at the 3-4 DE spot opposite Cameron Heyward.

Reach/Value: -16

Other Options:

  1. Anthony Barr* (6-5, 247 lbs.), OLB, UCLA
  2. Justin Gilbert* (6-0, 198 lbs.), CB, Oklahoma State
  3. Darqueze Dennard (5-11, 195 lbs.), CB, Michigan State

16. Dallas Cowboys
Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA
Ht: 6-5 Wt: 247 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: DL, S, LB, OG, WR

Analysis: With the 16th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select... Anthony Barr, Outside Linebacker, UCLA.

As I said in my previous mock, Dallas will select Anthony Barr if he falls to their pick. The Cowboys desperately need to add another pass rusher, and they believe that Barr could be a fit in their 4-3 defense as a defensive end. I would be all for it.

Reach/Value: +8

Other Options:

  1. Calvin Pryor* (6-0, 211 lbs.), S, Louisville
  2. Kony Ealy* (6-4, 265 lbs.), DE, Missouri
  3. Ryan Shazier* (6-1, 237 lbs.), OLB, Ohio State

17. Baltimore Ravens
Eric Ebron*, TE, North Carolina
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 253 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: OT, WR, S, TE, DE

Analysis: With the 17th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select... Eric Ebron, Tight End, North Carolina.

With the top 3 receivers and top 4 tackles off the board, the Ravens will be looking for the best possible value pick. That would likely be Eric Ebron. I'm not as high on him as others, but according to Draft Insider Tony Pauline, he is indeed their target in the first round.

It makes since, as Owen Daniels is a short term fix, and Pitta isn't as explosive or as talented as Ebron. He will be used heavily in Baltimore's offense, and should be an immediate impact player.

Reach/Value: -8

Other Options:

  1. Calvin Pryor* (6-0, 211 lbs.), S, Louisville
  2. Marqise Lee* (6-0, 199 lbs.), WR, Southern California
  3. Morgan Moses (6-6, 311 lbs.), OT, Virginia

18. New York Jets
Brandin Cooks*, WR, Oregon State
Ht: 5-10 Wt: 185 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: WR, DB, OL, LB, TE

Analysis: With the 18th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select... Brandin Cooks, Wide Receiver, Oregon State.

It would be tough for the Jets to pass on both of the top corners in this draft (Gilbert and Dennard), but they are so enamored with Brandon Cooks that I don't think they want to pass on him. He's a dynamic, play making receiver, which is what they currently lack.

Reach/Value: -25

Other Options:

  1. Justin Gilbert* (6-0, 198 lbs.), CB, Oklahoma State
  2. Calvin Pryor* (6-0, 211 lbs.), S, Louisville
  3. Jace Amaro* (6-6, 266 lbs.), TE, Texas Tech

19. Miami Dolphins
Ryan Shazier*, OLB, Ohio State
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 237 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: OT, OG, LB, WR, DB

Analysis: With the 19th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select... Ryan Shazier, Outside Linebacker, Ohio State.

The Dolphins badly need and want a right tackle, and may even be willing to reach for a player they love in Tennessee offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James. However, it is believed that Ryan Shazier will not get past the Dolphins. Shazier has star potential, and linebacker is another major need for Miami. I'm not a Shazier fan, but this pick would make much more since than reaching for a 3rd round tackle.

Reach/Value: -33

Other Options:

  1. Ja'Wuan James (6-7, 311 lbs.), OT, Tennessee
  2. Calvin Pryor* (6-0, 211 lbs.), S, Louisville
  3. Justin Gilbert* (6-0, 198 lbs.), CB, Oklahoma State

20. Arizona Cardinals
Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 215 lbs. | Class: Senior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 10-6 | Team Needs: OL, OLB, S, TE, QB

Analysis: With the 20th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select... Derek Carr, Quarterback, Fresno State.

Arizona wants Bortles, but with him off the board, Derek Carr could be their target here. I'm not completely sure they'll take Carr here, but this could be the spot where Carr hears his name called. A pass rusher or defensive back would make sense as well.

Reach/Value: +4

Other Options:

  1. Kony Ealy* (6-4, 265 lbs.), DE, Missouri
  2. Calvin Pryor* (6-0, 211 lbs.), S, Louisville
  3. Justin Gilbert* (6-0, 198 lbs.), CB, Oklahoma State

21. Green Bay Packers
Calvin Pryor*, S, Louisville
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 211 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 8-7-1 | Team Needs: S, TE, ILB, C, DL

Analysis: With the 21st pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select... Calvin Pryor, Safety, Louisville.

The Packers seem to covet Ryan Shazier, but he's off the board. So, I expect them to address the safety position. Jimmie Ward may be the best fit at this point, but they may not be able to pass on Calvin Pryor, who has a higher ceiling.

Reach/Value: -3 (Good Value)

Other Options:

  1. Jimmie Ward (5-11, 197 lbs.), S, Northern Illinois
  2. C.J. Mosley (6-2, 234 lbs.), ILB, Alabama
  3. Justin Gilbert* (6-0, 198 lbs.), CB, Oklahoma State

22. Philadelphia Eagles
Marqise Lee*, WR, Southern California
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 199 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 10-6 | Team Needs: S, OLB, ILB, CB, WR

Analysis: With the 22nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select... Marqise Lee, Wide Receiver, Southern California.

I have to admit, I have absolutely no idea what the Eagles will do. Will they trade up? If they stay put, who will their top target be? Some think Marqise Lee doesn't hear his name called tonight, but Chip Kelly may like him enough to prevent that from happening. He's a good fallback option.

Reach/Value: -4

Other Options:

  1. Justin Gilbert* (6-0, 198 lbs.), CB, Oklahoma State
  2. Dee Ford (6-2, 252 lbs.), OLB, Auburn
  3. Jimmie Ward (5-11, 197 lbs.), S, Northern Illinois

23. Kansas City Chiefs
Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 198 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 11-5 | Team Needs: WR, OG, S, ILB, CB

Analysis: With the 23rd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select... Justin Gilbert, Cornerback, Oklahoma State.

This would probably be a curveball, as most expect the Chiefs to draft a receiver or a quarterback here. If Justin Gilbert falls to the Chiefs, I'm not sure that they pass. Brandon Flowers could be on the trade block, but they need another corner regardless if he's traded or not.

Reach/Value: +9

Other Options:

  1. Xavier Su'a-Filo* (6-4, 305 lbs.), OG, UCLA
  2. Teddy Bridgewater (6-2, 208 lbs.), QB, Louisville
  3. Jimmie Ward (5-11, 197 lbs.), S, Northern Illinois

24. Cincinnati Bengals
Kony Ealy*, DE, Missouri
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 265 lbs. | Class: Junior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 11-5 | Team Needs: CB, C, MLB, DE, WR

Analysis: With the 24th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select... Kony Ealy, Defensive End, Missouri.

Even with cornerback being their most pressing need, I believe they pass and target a pass rusher early like Kony Ealy, who would be a steal here. Teddy Bridgewater will be in play as well.

Reach/Value: +9

Other Options:

  1. Darqueze Dennard (5-11, 199 lbs.), CB, Michigan State
  2. Demarcus Lawrence* (6-3, 250 lbs.), DE, Boise State
  3. Teddy Bridgewater (6-2, 208 lbs.), QB, Louisville

25. San Diego Chargers
Demarcus Lawrence*, OLB, Boise State
Ht: 6-3 Wt: 250 lbs. | Class: Junior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 9-7 | Team Needs: CB, OG, OLB, DL, WR

Analysis: With the 25th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers select... Demarcus Lawrence, Outside Linebacker, Boise State.

Like the Bengals, the Chargers desperately need a corner, but "corners" is more appropriate because they need more than one. They may pass on someone like Darqueze Dennard if they can get their hands on a pass rusher like Boise State's Demarcus Lawrence, who I fully expect to be chosen in the first 32 picks.

Reach/Value: +2

Other Options:

  1. Darqueze Dennard (5-11, 199 lbs.), CB, Michigan State
  2. Louis Nix III* (6-2, 331 lbs.), NT, Notre Dame
  3. Joel Bitonio (6-4, 305 lbs.), OG, Nevada

26. Cleveland Browns
Teddy Bridgewater*, QB, Louisville
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 208 lbs. | Class: Junior
(via Indianapolis)

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: QB, OL, DB, ILB, WR

Analysis: With the 26th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select... Teddy Bridgewater, Quarterback, Louisville.

If he's on the board, Teddy Bridgewater will be the pick for the Browns. They are reportedly "enamored" with him, as they should be. Bridgewater is still my #1 quarterback, and has been since around this time last year. Honestly, I think the Browns will take whichever quarterback falls if they don't have to trade up.

Reach/Value: +22

Other Options:

  1. C.J. Mosley (6-2, 234 lbs.), ILB, Alabama
  2. Bradley Roby* (5-11, 195 lbs.), CB, Ohio State
  3. Darqueze Dennard (5-11, 199 lbs.), CB, Michigan State

27. New Orleans Saints
Marcus Martin*, C, Southern California
Ht: 6-3 Wt: 318 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 11-5 | Team Needs: CB, ILB, OLB, C, WR

Analysis: With the 27th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select... Marcus Martin, Center, Southern California.

The Saints are in position to take a highly rated corner, and could even be interested in Dee Ford here. However, all signs are pointing to them filling their need for a center with Marcus Martin. This would be a surprising reach, similar to Dallas drafting Travis Frederick in round one last year.

Reach/Value: -53

Other Options:

  1. Dee Ford (6-2, 252 lbs.), OLB, Auburn
  2. Jimmie Ward (5-11, 197 lbs.), S, Northern Illinois
  3. C.J. Mosley (6-2, 234 lbs.), ILB, Alabama

28. Carolina Panthers
Joel Bitonio, OG, Nevada
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 305 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 12-4 | Team Needs: OL, WR, CB, S, OLB

Analysis: With the 28th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers select... Joel Bitonio, Offensive Guard, Nevada.

Wide receiver is a huge need for the Panthers, but their need for a left tackle is even greater. They've been connected to Nevada offensive lineman Joel Bitonio. In my opinion, they should not take Bitonio over Cyrus Kouandjio or Morgan Moses, but Bitonio's ability to play all 5 positions on the offensive line is helping his stock.

Reach/Value: -55

Other Options:

  1. Allen Robinson* (6-1, 207 lbs.), WR, Penn State
  2. Davante Adams** (6-1, 215 lbs.), WR, Fresno State
  3. Morgan Moses (6-6, 311 lbs.), OT, Virginia

29. New England Patriots
Jace Amaro*, TE, Texas Tech
Ht: 6-6 Wt: 266 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 12-4 | Team Needs: DT, OL, WR, TE, S

Analysis: With the 29th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select... Jace Amaro, Tight End, Texas Tech.

New England is always in the mix to trade back, but if they don't take a safety, I believe they stay put and select Jace Amaro. I've thought for a while that Amaro ends up in New England. This pick makes too much sense.

Reach/Value: +12 (Great Value)

Other Options:

  1. Louis Nix III* (6-2, 331 lbs.), NT, Notre Dame
  2. Deone Bucannon (6-1, 211 lbs.), S, Washington State
  3. Weston Richburg (6-4, 304 lbs.), C, Colorado State

30. San Francisco 49ers
Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
Ht: 5-11 Wt: 195 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 12-4 | Team Needs: CB, WR, C, OLB, DL

Analysis: With the 30th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select... Darqueze Dennard, Cornerback, Michigan State.

As much as the 49ers want in on the receiver action, they would be thrilled if arguably the top corner in the draft fell to them. San Francisco would be a great fit for Darqueze Dennard, where he would sooner than later become their number one corner.

Bradley Roby*, CB, Boise State
Ht: 5-11 Wt: 195 lbs. | Class: Junior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 13-3 | Team Needs: CB, MLB, DE, DT, OL

Analysis: With the 31st pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select... Bradley Roby, Cornerback, Ohio State.

This pick will likely come down to C.J. Mosley and Bradley Roby. I would go with Mosley, but concerns about his shoulder could make them lean towards Roby. Bradley Roby's 2013 tape wasn't as strong as his 2012 tape, but he has first round talent, and would be in a great situation in Denver.

32. Seattle Seahawks
Cyrus Kouandjio*, OT, Alabama
Ht: 6-7 Wt: 322 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 13-3 | Team Needs: OG, OT, WR, DT, DE

Analysis: With the 32nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select... Cyrus Kouandjio, Offensive Tackle, Alabama.

It's almost a certainty that Seattle drafts an offensive lineman with the 32nd overall pick. Morgan Moses? Xavier Su'a-Filo? Nope. If they're not scared off by the medicals, Cyrus Kouandjio makes the most sense, and gives them a much needed upgrade at right tackle.
