1. Houston Texans
Jadeveon Clowney*, DE, South Carolina
Ht: 6-6 Wt: 266 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 2-14 | Team Needs: QB, LB, OL, DL, DB

Analysis: With the 1st pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select... Jadeveon Clowney, Defensive End, South Carolina.

No one will knock Houston for this pick. Jadeveon Clowney is obviously the best player in this draft. His ceiling is Hall-of-Fame defensive end Bruce Smith. His floor is Mario Williams. If not sold on a quarterback, why not go with the best player on the board? He'll form a dominant tandem with J.J. Watt.

Grade: A+

2. Saint Louis Rams
Greg Robinson**, OT, Auburn
Ht: 6-5 Wt: 327 lbs. | Class: Sophomore (RS)
(via Washington)

2013 Season Record: 7-9 | Team Needs: QB, OL, DB, WR, OLB

Analysis: With the 2nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Saint Louis Rams select... Greg Robinson, Offensive Tackle, Auburn.

I'm usually not a fan of drafting a right tackle high in the first round, but Greg Robinsion is a rare and special talent. He can immediately start at guard before kicking outside to tackle, and could be the long term answer at left tackle. He is one of the 5 elite prospects in this draft.

Grade: A+

3. Jacksonville Jaguars
Blake Bortles*, QB, Central Florida
Ht: 6-5 Wt: 229 lbs. | Class: Junior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: QB, OL, DL, LB, WR

Analysis: With the 3rd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select... Blake Bortles, Quarterback, Central Florida.

Wow! I was confident that Jacksonville would "play it safe" with either Sammy Watkins or Khalil Mack. This was completely out of left field. Blake Bortles is a second round prospect in my opinion! Very big reach. They passed on two elite talents and two top 10 quarterbacks. Bortles may have been their guy, but I'm not a fan. At least he has great upside.

Reach/Value: -35

Grade: D-

4. Buffalo Bills
Sammy Watkins*, WR, Clemson
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 214 lbs. | Class: Junior
(via Cleveland)

2013 Season Record: 6-10 | Team Needs: OT, TE, WR, S, DE

Analysis: With the 4th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select... Sammy Watkins, Wide Receiver, Clemson.

Another wow moment! I did not think Buffalo would be able to trade up. They had to give up next year's first and fourth round picks to do it, but they got their man. Watkins is the number one receiver in this draft. Now, there are no excuses for E.J. Manuel.

Reach/Value: -1

Grade: A-

5. Oakland Raiders
Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo
Ht: 6-3 Wt: 252 lbs. | Class: Senior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: QB, LB, OL, DB, TE

Analysis: With the 5th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select... Khalil Mack, Outside Linebacker, Buffalo.

Great pick for the Raiders! They played it safe, and got the second best pass rusher in this class. Mack's game will translate well to the NFL. He should give them a huge upgrade at the SAM linebacker spot, and is the franchise pass rusher they've been lacking for years.

Reach/Value: +2

Grade: A+

6. Atlanta Falcons
Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
Ht: 6-6 Wt: 308 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: OT, OLB, S, TE, RB

Analysis: With the 6th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select... Jake Matthews, Offensive Tackle, Texas A&M.

Love it. Take the best non-quarterback in the draft, and upgrade your biggest need. Jake Matthews is a plug-and-play starter for the next decade. He'll likely start at right tackle, but should shift over to the left side in the near future. Matt Ryan should be very, very happy.

Reach/Value: 0

Grade: A+

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Mike Evans**, WR, Texas A&M
Ht: 6-5 Wt: 231 lbs. | Class: Sophomore (RS)

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: QB, WR, TE, OG, LB

Analysis: With the 7th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select... Mike Evans, Wide Receiver, Texas A&M.

Mike Evans is my 11th ranked player, but he makes a ton of sense here. Not sold on a quarterback? No problem. Get your receiver to pair with Vincent Jackson. Lovie Smith wanted his Brandon Marshall/Alshon Jeffery duo and now he's got it!

Reach/Value: -4

Grade: A-

8. Cleveland Browns
Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 198 lbs. | Class: Senior
(via Minnesota)

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: QB, WR, TE, OG, LB

Analysis: With the 8th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select... Justin Gilbert, Cornerback, Oklahoma State.

Surprise! Cleveland gave up a 5th round pick to move back up and select Justin Gilbert. Not bad. Will they regret passing on Bridgewater and Manziel? Possibly, but at his point, Gilbert was probably the only non-quarterback that made sense. He's my #1 ranked corner, and will form one of the best young corner tandems in the NFL. A little early, but solid pick.

Reach/Value: -6

Grade: B

9. Minnesota Vikings
Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA
Ht: 6-5 Wt: 247 lbs. | Class: Senior
(from Cleveland via Buffalo)

2013 Season Record: 5-10-1 | Team Needs: QB, LB, DB, OG, WR

Analysis: With the 9th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select... Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA.

Edge rushers are a premium. Minnesota has Everson Griffen and Brian Robison, but neither has the upside of Anthony Barr. He's an athletic freak. I don't think it was wise to pass on Bridgewater, but once again, take the best player on your board if you're not sold on a quarterback.

Reach/Value: +1

Grade: B+

10. Detroit Lions
Eric Ebron*, TE, North Carolina
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 253 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 7-9 | Team Needs: DB, OL, OLB, DE, WR

Analysis: With the 10th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select... Eric Ebron, Tight End, North Carolina.

There wasn't a corner worth drafting here, so I'm ok with this pick. Give Matthew Stafford another explosive play maker in the receiving game. Eric Ebron's ceiling is high, but this was indeed a reach. Not as down on it as I should be.

Reach/Value: -25

Grade: B-

11. Tennessee Titans
Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
Ht: 6-7 Wt: 312 lbs. | Class: Senior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 7-9 | Team Needs: QB, CB, ILB, RB, WR

Analysis: With the 11th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select... Taylor Lewan , Offensive Tackle, Michigan.

This is a good value pick, but why sign Michael Oher to a four year deal if you're going to draft a right tackle in the first round? Lewan is an upgrade over the underachieving right tackle, but could be their left tackle of the future. They may regret passing on quarterbacks.

Reach/Value: +2

Grade: B

12. New York Giants
Odell Beckham Jr.*, WR, Louisiana State
Ht: 5-11 Wt: 198 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 7-9 | Team Needs: OL, WR, TE, LB, RB

Analysis: With the 12th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select... Odell Beckham Jr., Wide Receiver, Louisiana State.

Well, I'm surprised they didn't take Zack Martin, but there weren't too many other guys who made since here besides Aaron Donald. A little early for Odell Beckham to come off the board IMO, but Beckham will make a case to be the best receiver from this class.

Reach/Value: -6

Grade: B

13. Saint Louis Rams
Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 287 lbs. | Class: Senior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 7-9 | Team Needs: QB, OL, DB, WR, OLB

Analysis: With the 13th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Saint Louis Rams select... Aaron Donald, Defensive Tackle, Pittsburgh.

Love this pick! Good value, for Aaron Donald, and he does fill a need. I'm not too surprised they passed on Clinton-Dix, because every team in the NFL could use the interior disruption that Donald will bring at the 3-technique defensive tackle spot.

Reach/Value: 0

Grade: A

14. Chicago Bears
Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 190 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: DB, LB, DT, RB, WR

Analysis: With the 14th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select... Kyle Fuller, Cornerback, Virginia Tech.

I was on board with this pick for a while.. Kyle Fuller could be the best corner from this class when it's all said and done. He's versatile as well. I have Fuller as a late first round pick, so it's early, and I prefer Darqueze Dennard. But, the Bears do fill a need.

Reach/Value: -13

Grade: B-

15. Pittsburgh Steelers
Ryan Shazier*, OLB, Ohio State
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 237 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: CB, WR, DL, ILB, RB

Analysis: With the 15th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select... Ryan Shazier, Outside Linebacker, Ohio.

Not a fan of this pick. Shazier has a ton of upside, but I just don't see it right now. He's an inside linebacker in a 3-4, but he'll struggle taking on more blocks than necessary, because Pittsburgh doesn't have a good defensive line. Reach.

Reach/Value: -37

Grade: D+

16. Dallas Cowboys
Zack Martin, OL, Notre Dame
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 308 lbs. | Class: Senior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: DL, S, LB, OG, WR

Analysis: With the 16th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select... Zack Martin, Offensive Lineman, Notre Dame.

Man... I really wanted the Cowboys to either trade down or take "Ha Ha" Clinton-Dix, but Zack Martin is a fine choice. He can play all 5 positions up front, and should be a plug and play starter (and future All-Pro). Dallas's offensive line is looking strong. I like it. Safe, pick.

Reach/Value: -3

Grade: B+

17. Baltimore Ravens
C.J. Mosley, ILB, Alabama
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 234 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: OT, WR, S, TE, DE

Analysis: With the 17th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select... C.J. Mosley, Inside Linebacker, Alabama.

They're kind of deep at linebacker, but C.J. Mosley is a good value pick. He's not Ray Lewis, but he's damn good. He and Arthur Brown form a stud inside linebacker tandem for the next several years.

Reach/Value: -4

Grade: B+

18. New York Jets
Calvin Pryor*, S, Louisville
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 211 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: WR, DB, OL, LB, TE

Analysis: With the 18th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select... Calvin Pryor, Safety, Louisville

Calvin Pryor is a stud. I wouldn't have taken him over Clinton-Dix, but Pryor is an interchangeable safety who will be an absolute play maker. No receiver was worth drafting here, so solid pick for the Jets. Rex Ryan should be happy.

Reach/Value: -6

Grade: B+

19. Miami Dolphins
Ja'Wuan James, OT, Tennessee
Ht: 6-7 Wt: 311 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 8-8 | Team Needs: OT, OG, LB, WR, DB

Analysis: With the 19th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select... Ja'Wuan James, OT, Tennessee.

-Sighs- I really wanted to mock James to the Dolphins in my final mock, but I had Shazier falling to them. James is not special. He can be a quality right tackle, but the Dolphins reached badly for him. It's already hard to justify a right tackle in the first round. On the plus side, at least they want to keep Ryan Tannehill upright.

Reach/Value: -73

Grade: F

20. New Orleans Saints
Brandin Cooks*, WR, Oregon State
Ht: 5-10 Wt: 185 lbs. | Class: Junior
(via Arizona)

2013 Season Record: 11-5 | Team Needs: CB, ILB, OLB, C, WR

Analysis: With the 20th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select... Brandin Cooks, Wide Receiver, Oregon State.

New Orleans jumped the Eagles to get their guy Brandin Cooks. I wouldn't have taken Cooks in round one, as I have him as a solid second rounder, but he's such an explosive play maker that I understand how hard it was to resist. I can't wait to see Cooks in the Saints offense.

*Note, New Orleans gave up a third to get Cooks. Not a bad pick, but I just don't love the value here.

Reach/Value: -23

Grade: C

21. Green Bay Packers
Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix*, S, Alabama
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 207 lbs. | Class: Junior

2013 Season Record: 8-7-1 | Team Needs: S, TE, ILB, C, DL

Analysis: With the 21st pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select... Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, Safety, Alabama.

Love, love, love this pick for the Packers! I wanted him for the Cowboys, but they just filled their biggest need and did it by drafted a top 10 talent. Let me reiterate, Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix is the best safety in this draft. Well done, Ted Thompson.

22. Cleveland Browns
Johnny Manziel**, QB, Texas A&M
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 207 lbs. | Class: Sophomore (RS)
(via Philadelphia)

2013 Season Record: 4-12 | Team Needs: QB, OL, DB, ILB, WR

Analysis: With the 22nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select... Johnny Manziel, Quarterback, Texas A&M.

With two third round picks, giving up one of them to get their franchise quarterback was so smart! Yes, Bridgewater is my #1 quarterback, but Johnny Manziel is a top 10 talent. Cleveland is rolling the dice, but this pick made almost too much sense!

23. Kansas City Chiefs
Dee Ford, OLB, Auburn
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 252 lbs. | Class: Senior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 11-5 | Team Needs: WR, OG, S, ILB, CB

Analysis: With the 23rd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select... Dee Ford, Outside Linebacker, Auburn.

Unless Tamba Hali isn't in their long term plans, I'm not a huge fan of this pick. Dee Ford is a very good pass rusher. But, there were a few other needs that could have been addressed, and I believe they passed on a better pass rusher in Demarcus Lawrence.

24. Cincinnati Bengals
Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
Ht: 5-11 Wt: 195 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 11-5 | Team Needs: CB, C, MLB, DE, WR

Analysis: With the 24th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select... Darqueze Dennard, Cornerback, Michigan State.

I'm a fan of this pick. Physical press corner who can take away one side of the field. Also a willing tackler. Good value, Dennard is the most NFL ready corner in this draft. Cornerback was their most pressing need. The Bengals nailed it.

25. San Diego Chargers
Jason Verrett, CB, Texas Christian
Ht: 5-10 Wt: 186 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 9-7 | Team Needs: CB, OG, OLB, DL, WR

Analysis: With the 25th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers select... Jason Verrett, Cornerback, Texas Christian.

Concerns about Verrett's health could have pushed him into the second round, but this is a solid pick for the Chargers. They needed a cornerback in the worst way. The question is, is Verrett limited to the slot? I think he can play on the outside. Picking him over Bradley Roby was the right move in my opinion.

26. Philadelphia Eagles
Marcus Smith, OLB, Louisville
Ht: 6-3 Wt: 253 lbs. | Class: Senior
(from Cleveland via Indianapolis)

2013 Season Record: 10-6 | Team Needs: S, OLB, ILB, CB, WR

Analysis: With the 26th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select... Marcus Smith, Outside Linebacker, Louisville.

I like Marcus Smith, but there were better pass rushers on the board. And the Eagles passed on Marqise Lee. Not a fan of this pick. Not in the first round. At least it fills a need tho.

27. Arizona Cardinals
Deone Bucannon, S, Washington State
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 211 lbs. | Class: Senior
(via New Orleans)

2013 Season Record: 10-6 | Team Needs: OL, OLB, S, TE, QB

Analysis: With the 27th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select... Deone Bucannon, Safety, Washington State

I had 2 safeties ahead of Bucannon, but I'm a fan. The already have a play making free safety/slot corner in Tyrann Mathieu, so why not compliment him with arguably the best strong safety in the draft? My problem is that they reached for him.

28. Carolina Panthers
Kelvin Benjamin**, WR, Florida State
Ht: 6-5 Wt: 242 lbs. | Class: Sophomore (RS)

2013 Season Record: 12-4 | Team Needs: OL, WR, CB, S, OLB

Analysis: With the 28th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers select... Kelvin Benjamin, Wide Receiver, Florida State.

Kelvin Benjamin is big, and has upside, but he can't catch. Passing on a left tackle (Kouandjio/Moses) was mistake #1. Mistake #2 was passing on Marqise Lee (#5 ranked receiver) for the 11th best player at the position. Benjamin has bust potential.

29. New England Patriots
Dominique Easley, DT, Florida
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 288 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 12-4 | Team Needs: DT, OL, WR, TE, S

Analysis: With the 29th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select... Dominique Easley, Defensive Tackle, Florida.

This might be my favorite pick of the first round. Coming off of a torn ACL does scare me, but Easley belongs in the first round. Has more upside than Aaron Donald, who went 13th. Great value pick while filling a big need.

30. San Francisco 49ers
Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois
Ht: 5-11 Wt: 197 lbs. | Class: Senior

2013 Season Record: 12-4 | Team Needs: CB, WR, C, OLB, DL

Analysis: With the 30th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select... Jimmie Ward, Safety, Northern Illinois.

You could make a case that Jimmie Ward is the second best safety in the draft. The value is pretty good, but safety isn't a need for them with Eric Reid and Antoine Bethea IMO. Corner and receiver were much more pressing need. But, Ward has the versatility to contribute as a corner, so it's not a bad pick.

Grade: C

31. Denver Broncos
Bradley Roby*, CB, Ohio State
Ht: 5-11 Wt: 195 lbs. | Class: Junior (RS)

2013 Season Record: 13-3 | Team Needs: CB, MLB, DE, DT, OL

Analysis: With the 31st pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select... Bradley Roby, Cornerback, Ohio State.

I soured on Roby this season, but he is still a first round talent (though I gave him a second round grade). I thought they could have gotten better value with a pass rusher, but they had a pressing need at corner. Roby is in a good place.

32. Minnesota Vikings
Teddy Bridgewater*, QB, Louisville
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 208 lbs. | Class: Junior
(via Seattle)

2013 Season Record: 5-10-1 | Team Needs: QB, LB, DB, OG, WR

Analysis: With the 32nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select... Teddy Bridgewater, Quarterback, Louisville.

The Vikings gave up their second round pick to move back into the first round and take the best quarterback in the draft. I'm excited for Teddy Bridgewater. He didn't deserve to fall, but he deserves the bittersweet feeling I'm sure he is experienced. Nothing else to say. Best value pick in the first round by far!
